🇯🇵 Shogi: The Grand Court

Shogi (Japanese chess) at the daimyo's court: lead golden clockwork pieces through 50 Sengoku matches. The AI thinks on your device, even offline.

A peaceful contest before the daimyo. 50 rival houses stand between you and the Grand Court in Kyoto.

■ The game is Shogi
Move your pieces on a 9×9 board and checkmate the enemy king. Tap a piece and dots mark every square it can reach, and promotion follows the standard rules.
Shogi is Japanese chess with one difference: a piece you capture changes sides, and you may drop it back on the board as your own.

■ 5 chapters, 50 battles
Owari and Mino, Kai and Shinano, Echigo and Hokuriku, Setouchi and Shikoku, Kyoto and the Jurakudai.
Each match costs 1 to 3 days. The cleaner the win, the fewer days it takes.
Finish inside 80 days for the true ending. Go over and the journey continues, but the record keeps the overrun.

6 grades — Novice · Beginner · Intermediate · Advanced · Master · Peerless — the battles are ordered, weakest first.

■ The first few games find your strength
Play 1 to 7 calibration games and the app proposes the battle where you will be evenly matched.

■ The AI thinks on your device
No position is sent anywhere to choose a move. Underground, in the air, out of range — the same strength.
Note: only the post-game review and the opponent’s thoughts may use the network. See below.

■ Replay the game afterwards
Open the game record and step back one move at a time to see where it turned.
During a game you may take back up to 3 moves per match (against the on-device AI only).

■ Play people (online matches)
You are paired automatically with a nearby rating. Wins and losses move your rating and the leaderboard.
Opponents and the leaderboard see your profile display name (a placeholder until you set one). Report names in-game. No chat.
In online matches the moves and the result (record, outcome, rating) are stored on the match server.

■ A review of every game, free of charge
Ask for a review in the game record and the AI reads that game and explains the turning points in words.
The move record is sent to the AI through our server at that moment. Nothing is sent unless you ask.

■ The opponent’s thoughts
At the opening and the endgame your opponent says a short line. Switch it on or off in Settings.
The AI-written middlegame lines are part of the premium plan.
When the AI writes a line, only the position and the last move are sent; switching it off in Settings stops that too.

■ What builds up
Every game is recorded: your win rate and which battles you have played.
26 achievements unlock on their own once you meet the conditions.
Your grade follows the strength estimated from your games.

■ Portrait, one hand
Portrait only. The board fits the width of the screen.
Sound effects and music each switch on and off with their own volume, and the opponent’s thoughts switch on and off too.

■ Ads, and what you can buy
The app is free. Ads may appear between games.
Piece sets and boards are sold as one-time purchases, and can be brought back on a new device with "Restore purchases".
Every battle is playable without spending anything, and the review after a game is free for everyone.
No ads, the AI’s advice during a game and the skill-radar summary are part of the premium plan — monthly or a one-time purchase. Optional.

■ No sign-up
No account needed. We do not collect your name, e-mail address, phone number or date of birth.
Games against the on-device AI, your settings and your achievements stay on this device.
An anonymous account, not tied to your name, is created only when you start an online match or buy/restore the one-time purchase.
Resetting the device or deleting the app loses them; only the journey record can be exported from Settings.
